About Me

Hello there, my name is Robert and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I look forward to getting the chance to know you and to be able work with you. I am also looking forward to being a part of your journey as you allow me to assist you to become what you deserve and desire to be. And that is the life that you deserve to live.
I would like to take a moment and share some information about me. I have a master’s degree in Social Work and a MBA degree in Healthcare Leadership/Management. I am also in the process of completing my MA degree in Servant Leadership in an effort to enhance my ability to be a better servant to you on your journey toward healing and achieving the life you deserve. This opportunity will also allow me to strengthen and grow within myself what a servant relationship can achieve when it is based upon on an authentic commitment to the wellbeing of others individuals. It will also create a transformational and empowering sense of self.
My approach in counseling and in therapy is my belief in the power of using narrative therapy in my practice. This approach allows me the chance to hear your story and how this story got you to where you are now and where you want to be in your life. It also creates the opportunity to help you become and embrace being an expert in your own life. Because of that approach to therapy the experience will be laid back and conversational in nature. I want and need you to feel empowered. To have you feel and know that you are in control of your destination.
I have been providing supportive counseling since 1991when I started out as a youth counselor in a long term residential treatment program for children and adolescents. Upon achieving my MSW degree in 2005 it has allowed me to take my skills to the next level of service for those who have entrusted me with their stories and their goals for better life for themselves.
I utilize within my practice a strength based solution focused approach by empowering individuals to know that they have choices. I enjoy addressing system theory and how this impacts the choices that we make at any given moment in our lives as well how our choices impact those around us. I have background as a DBT therapist. And because of this I have discovered how powerful the use of mindfulness can be utilized in our daily choices that we make. Motivational interviewing is another vital technique that will be applied during our time together in moving forward with your goals.
I also believe that we have through the course of our lives that we have been given the tools to make our life better. And because of that belief my role becomes one who will help guide you as you rediscover those skills/tools. To know again that you can achieve what you deserve.
I believe in using reality therapy as a therapeutic approach to problem solving the choices that we have made or plan to make in our lives. I have discovered the value of being proactive in problem solving decisions and in the choices that we make. And because of this role playing will be a vital tool that we will use.
You will discover that I believe in the power of the trusting relationship. That will be a foundational goal that I will strive for. I also know that there will be moments when one of us will either say or hear something that we may not like to hear. But because of the commitment I have to the therapeutic relationship and the commitment I have to you I want you to know that I truly have your best interest in mind and that I believe in you. And this leads to the next therapeutic relationship skill that will be important to address and that is transparency. If we know that something is present that needs to be addressed because it is becoming a barrier it needs to be put on the table. You will discover how freeing it is in time. We will be able to talk that moment out. And by working through a topic that has become or is difficult the therapeutic relationship will grow strong. This will be applied to the relationships that we encounter on a daily basis.
Because of my experience as an emergency room social worker for the last 15 years I bring to the therapeutic relationship the use of brief therapy and crisis management. This experience then can be carried on to the next level through supportive counseling and achieving your goals.
I have a diverse background in working in the field of mental and emotional health. These areas address the impact of depression, relationship development and counseling, grief, addictions, adaptive/maladaptive coping strategies, skill development, impact of personality, and anger management

Because I know we live in a busy world when it comes to scheduling time to do a video, phone or messaging I want to work with your schedule because we don’t all work a typical 9-5 pm job. So when the time is right to do this let me know what options work for you as it relates to days and times and we will plan from there. So take care of you.

Bob listens to everything I have to say and doesn't judge any of my emotional thoughts or feelings. The openness has been helpful to get to the root of my problems. I've felt supported throughout the week with short little check-ins. He has a wealth of knowledge and helps steer me to useful resources. He is flexible in scheduling, and understands life sometimes gets in the way. Excellent therapist.
